According to Apple, the MacBook Air 2020 has twice as fast SSD as the previous models; and it is completely true. Aside from the CPU’s performance, a laptop has to perform well in two other aspects as well; graphics and battery. The MacBook Air 2020 M1 excels in the battery life department but just falls short in graphics for gaming.
The M1 MacBook Air starts at $999 with the eight-core CPU, seven-core GPU M1 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB solid-state drive (SSD). It tops out at $1,999 for 16GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD.
Personally have a 256 24 m2 air. For web devs and very simple Unity games, its great. It struggles a bit with my company's project (a very complex 2.5d game) If you ask me, i would never recommend 8gb for dev/programming stuff, unless you know exactly everything you gonna do is fairly not too demanding.
I'm deciding over 256/512 storage, why as my fav' u.k retailer doesn't seem capable of sourcing 512 ssd in Starlight. I suspect I'll manage with 256 ssd to use P.s/Possibly Final Cut and office 365 etc. The few secs slower ssd I don't expect to notice. Is 256gb going to be enough to learn Video editing at least initially.
